Lynda Pearson Obituary

Lynda Boyd Pearson, 81, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2023. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Smith Bend-Coon Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Clifton Funeral Home.

Born in Olney, TX,  Sept 26, 1941, to Fred Hamilton Boyd, Sr and Lily “Billie” Edwina LaLone Boyd, Lynda lived in Archer City, TX, and attended school there until her family moved to Laguna Park, TX, around 1950.  She attended Clifton Elementary, JH, and HS through her graduation with her much loved Class of 1960.

Over the course of her early years in Laguna Park, she worked in all of her family’s businesses, including Boyd’s Cafe and Gas Station, Boyd’s Roller Rink, Boyd’s Laundromat, and Boyd’s 1960 Hop and Soda Fountain.  This time instilled in her a tireless work ethic, a head for bookkeeping, and a love to two-step and waltz.  She loved this time and place in her life with her parents and brothers; and later raising their families and her own together there.  She loved Lake Whitney and made her home there in Laguna Park for most of her adult life.

After graduation, she attended Durham’s Business College in Waco, TX.  Bookkeeping would be her lifelong career, including  25 years at Waco Carbonic Company.

In October 1960, she married the love of her youth, Jimmie Vernon Pearson, at First Baptist Church, Hillsboro, TX,  In September 1964, they welcomed a daughter together, Karen Deneen.  In 1991, she married the best friend of her life, Kenneth Hayes, in Waco, TX.

Lynda was baptized at First Baptist Church, Hillsboro, TX.  She was a devoted Christian and  relied heavily on her faith in every joy and circumstance and believed strongly in God’s Grace and Gifts in life, study of His Word and Prayer with Him.  She now rests assured in her Shepherd and He has her soul firmly in hand.

“Mama” to Karen, “Brammaw and Bram,” to her grands and great-grands, she was devoted, selfless, loving, and up for any adventure as long as it was alongside her beloved family!  The biggest kid in the mix!  Laughter was her favorite medicine and her laugh-til-you-cry with abandon is a part of countless family memories.  The Boyd laugh sessions with her mother and brothers were infamous and she carried them on to her family.

The Clifton Class of 1960 was very special to her and she attended every reunion that she could.  Long before Karen attended the reunions with her as a child and later as an adult, she had heard countless stories of them and school days together.

Her loyalty, to God, family, friend, classmate, work, and living was cheerful, humble, and selfless.  Her family rejoices in her life and her faith and know that she is at peace!
