February 12, 1931 ~ April 10, 2021 (age 90) 90 Years Old

JoAnn Bevan Obituary

 Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Cayote Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Clifton Cemetery. 

Joann Lanehart Bevan was born on February 12, 1931 in Clifton, Texas to James D. Lanehart and Grace Moorman Lanehart.

Joann attended Clifton High School, and later the Providence School of Nursing, California State University, and Riverside City College, where she later worked as an instructor.

In July of 1953, Joann married Richard Becker Bevan, in Corpus Christi, Texas. They went on to have three children, Tom, Cynthia, and Doug.

Joann lived in Clifton (Bosque County) Texas, Corpus Christi Texas, Norfolk Virginia (twice), Vista California, Lemoore California, Yokohama Japan when Richard was stationed overseas, then back to Riverside California, and eventually to Chico, CA.

Joann dedicated much of her life to healing others. She worked primarily as a Registered Nurse, also later as a clinical instructor at Riverside City College in the nursing program.

She attended Cayote United Methodist Church, and United Methodist Women at Wesley United Methodist Church. Joann also served as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She also volunteered at libraries, churches, state parks, as well as the Genealogical Society, the Historical Society of Riverside, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Joann’s hobbies included researching family history, reading, traveling, and gardening.

She is survived by Richard Bevan (husband), Thomas C. Bevan (son), Cynthia Ann Bevan Davis (daughter), Grandchildren Megan, Douglas, Laura, Molly, and Emily along with 4 great grandchildren.

Among her favorite scriptures are: John 14:1-6 and Psalm 32:7

Her favorite hymns include “In the Garden”, Sweet Hour of Prayer”, and “Precious Lord Take My Hand”
