Jerry Sather Obituary

Jerry Wayne Sather, 80, passed away on February 23, 2020, in Clifton, Texas. Visitation with the family will be 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, February 25th, at Clifton Funeral Home. The service will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 26th, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in the Norse community. Burial will follow at Norse Cemetery.

Jerry was born on January 5, 1940, in Clifton, Texas to the late Harold and Clarice Sather of Cranfills Gap, Texas. He was baptized, confirmed and was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church his entire life. His father passed away when Jerry was sixteen years old. After his dad’s passing Jerry carried on the responsibilities of the family farm and learned to take care of the cattle and plow the fields. Later in life, his mother remarried to Tilden Pederson. Jerry attended and graduated from Cranfills Gap High School in 1958. After graduation, he attended several trade schools and became a member of the Army National Guard. He married Frances Betty Prescher in 1961. He then worked at Wilson Building Materials now Clifton Moulding.  After seven years he went to work at General Tire and Rubber as company manager until they closed. From there Jerry went to work for Burns Security at Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant in Glen Rose, Texas, where he retired.

Jerry was a hard worker and could repair and fix just about anything. He always looked forward to spending time with his family traveling, going camping and fishing. He would spend hours on a pier at the coast or in a boat at the lake to haul in a ton of fish. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, ranching, searching for arrowheads, raising livestock, and doing what needed to be done until the sun went down. His greatest joy of all was being with his children and grandchildren at their school functions, 4-H livestock events, and sporting events. He took great pride in his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Clarice Sather and stepfather, Tilden Pederson; sister, Kathryn Tucker; brother-in-law, Charles Tucker; and nephew, Randy Tucker.
