Ann Erickson Obituary

Ann Erickson was born February 18, 1944, in Waco to parents Basil G. and Elizabeth Mackie. She attended Waco schools and graduated from Waco High School in 1962.  She attended business college before her first job as a secretary at the Waco Veterans Administration Regional Office.  She later transferred to the Dallas office where she worked until she decided to attend community college and the University of Texas at Arlington.  While going to school part time, she worked at a jewelry store.  On October 25, 1969, she and Ernest Erickson were married.  Ernest had graduated from Baylor Dental School, and he had recently joined the Air Force.  They lived in San Antonio where he was stationed at Kelly Air Force Base.  Ann worked first at General Dynamics, and later at Lackland Air Force Base.  Their daughter Lisa was born in San Antonio in 1971.  When Ernest left the Air Force, they stayed in San Antonio for another year before moving to Clifton where Ernest set up his dental practice.  Their son David was born in 1975.

Ann had been born into a family where her siblings and parents were much older.  As a result, she was raised more like an only child.  She always loved to read and to travel.  She and Ernest made quite a few trips together, which Ann always planned.  She also enjoyed playing bridge.  She was a long-time member of the Clifton Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, her parents, her sister Norma Blanton, and her brothers Basil G. Mackie Jr. and Richard Mackie.  She is survived by her daughter Lisa Martin and husband Matt Martin, son David Erickson and wife Karra Erickson, grandchildren Meagan, Ryan and wife Melanie, Emily, Katelyn, and Ethan; and 6 great-grandchildren- Bradley, Makayla, Brayden, Dawson, Jennings, and Conway.

Ann died April 12, 2024, at Lutheran Sunset Ministries.  Her funeral service will be Wednesday, April 17th at 10:00 A.M. at Clifton Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park.
