William Steven Douglas Brown, born on February 18, 1977, in Fairfield, California, passed away on May 5, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He lived a full life marked by hard work, humor, and devotion to his family.
William had a fulfilling career as a correctional officer, dedicating over 15 years to the prison system. He took pride in his work, always striving to make a difference in the lives of those around him. In 2020, he married his beloved wife, Sheri Vela Brown, in Cranfils Gap. Their journey together began in 2008, and their love grew into a strong partnership.
He grew up in Palestine and graduated from Elkheart High School. William was known for his witty personality. He was a smart aleck who always had a joke ready and loved to keep things light-hearted. He was particularly passionate about his role as a father, encouraging his children to be the best they could be. He kept them in line while ensuring they enjoyed life, demonstrating what it meant to be a dedicated parent.
William had many interests that brought him joy. He loved fishing and listening to music, which were perfect pastimes for him. He also found great satisfaction in riding horses and coaching Little League sports, where he shared his enthusiasm for physical activity and team spirit with the kids.
William is survived by his wife, Sheri Vela Brown, and his children, Zackery Hoisington, Tara Hoisington, William Issec Brown, Kelsey Hoisington, Braiden Richard Brown, Jeremy Michael Brown, and Waco Douglas Brown, brothers, James Green, Richard Brown (Merissa) and their two children, William Brackston, III and Christine Elaine, his sister, Deborah Brown. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Brackston Brown II and Diane Tarkinton Brown, his brother, Michael Brown, his cousin, Waylon Brown, and his aunt, Terri Brown.
William's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Saturday, May 17, 2025 at First Baptist Church, Cranfills Gap.
