Wiley Pierce

June 7, 1936 — July 31, 2025

Clifton

Clifton, Texas - With deep sorrow we announce the death of Wiley Pierce, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend on July 31st, 2025. Born June 7th, 1936 in San Marcos, Texas, after growing and living in Bosque County, he dedicated 34 years of his life to his career with Central Freight Lines as a celebrated line driver.

Wiley married the love of his life, Shirley Reveile Pierce, on August 29th 1957 in Belton, Texas. They were married 68 rich years filled with love, laughter, and family. He leaves his beloved children: son Wiley Pierce Jr and wife Ann; son Jerry Pierce and wife Susan; daughter Lisa Pierce Halbert and Larry Bray; and son Kevin Pierce and wife Angel. He was deeply loved by all of his grandchildren including Michael Pierce and wife Samantha, Tara Pierce Bleeker and husband Joey, Mark Popp and wife Deborah, Amanda Popp, Brandi Pierce, Rachel Pierce, Cody Pierce and wife Madison, Brian Shane Pierce, Savannah Brown and husband T.C., Keele Halbert, Kaden Pierce, and Liam Pierce. He was also blessed with 14 great-grandchildren who will be raised to honor his memory.

In his time he was known for his vibrant gardens and ability to bring plants to life. He nurtured the greenery of many yards to ensure Shirley had a beautiful place to spend time. If the clack of dominoes was heard he would be found at the head of the table, riling up his sons and daughter and tossing out the winning domino with a grin. His grandchildren will always remember him with a camcorder in their childhoods. While he grew out of the practice, he was known to record everything from family celebrations to the little ones playing along on the organ. He loved the outdoors and took his family on decades-long annual trips to the river where he taught his children and grandchildren the art of being quiet while waiting for the fish to bite. His love of music is well known and his ability to pick up a tune on a new instrument without ever seeing the sheet music was astonishing. In all of his time and with all of those he loved he could find his way through any moment with a laugh and a very strong cup of coffee.

He was a gentle soul but did not shy away from sharing his thoughts honestly. His legacy as a loving father and grandfather will forever be remembered by his family and friends.

Wiley is preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Ruby (Covey) Pierce; his son, Steve Wade Pierce; and his siblings, Cliffe Pierce Pruett, Geraldine Pierce Weir, John Edward Pierce, Gracie Pierce, Nancy Pierce Pruett, and Gearey Wayne Pierce.
