Sanford "Sandy" Gentry

Surrounded by family, Sandy Gentry of Waxahachie, Texas, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2026. Born on June 10, 1944, to Gilbert and Helen Gentry in Waco, Texas.

Sandy graduated from Richfield High School in Waco, Texas. He went on to attend college before going to work as a salesman at Joe L. Ward Company in Waco, Texas. In 1980, he purchased an automotive parts business in Clifton, Texas, which came to be known as Sandy’s Auto Parts until 1999. He sold his business and went to work for 4M Automotive in Cleburne, Texas, until he retired in 2018.

He and Karen Kirschner were married on March 2, 1968. They had twin daughters, followed by a son three years later. They raised their children in Clifton. Sandy and Karen moved to Waco in 2003 and lived there until 2017. They then moved to Waxahachie, Texas, to be closer to their youngest grandchildren.

Sandy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Karen Gentry. He is also survived by his daughters Beth Brabham (husband Brian), Lea Sullivan, son Greg Gentry (wife Jodi), grandchildren Tommy Brabham (wife Autumn), Tori Jones (husband Trey), Alec Sullivan, Cole Sullivan, Jack Gentry, Henry Gentry, Collette Gentry, great-granddaughter Blakeley Brabham and another great-grandchild on the way, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers James and Duane Gentry, along with sister Patricia Hueston.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Clifton Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday August 29, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, Texas.

Pallbearers will be: Tommy Brabham, Alec Sullivan, Cole Sullivan, Jack Gentry, Henry Gentry, Trey Jones, and Garth Dietiker. 

Memorial Request:

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or FirstLook, Waxahachie, Texas.
