Patricia Gayle Vickrey

Patricia Gayle Wessels Vickrey, 84 years of age, was born 9-14-1942 and died 10-14-2026. Patricia was known as Patty. 

She is survived by her husband, Albert Worth (A.W.), Daughter Letricia Vickrey Keck whose husband is Mike Keck, and son Clifton Shad Vickrey. Her favorite story to tell was about the timing of her and A.W.’s birth. She was born in New Orleans 3 hours sooner than A.W., who was born in Waco, Texas. With Patty and A.W. just hours apart on the same day and same year, and being so much alike, it seemed that they were destined for each other. 

Patty is the daughter of Otto Bruno (Pat) Wessels and Leoto Moss Wessels of La Grange, Texas. A.W. is the son of Floyd and Ruby Vickrey of Clifton, Texas. They met in college class at South West Texas State University, where they sat next to each other. They were married August 21, 1965. When Patty was growing up, she loved music more than anything else. At an early age, she took piano lessons and later played the clarinet in her High School band and in college. Patty was an education major with a minor in music and English. She taught third grade at John Glenn Elementary in San Antonio and also in Lake Worth. When she left teaching to raise a family, she continued to be involved in education by being on the PTA board of her children’s schools until they graduated public school. She and A.W. were perfect for each other. They both viewed life pretty much the same. Patty and A.W. were married for 61 years and were never apart from each other for more than just a few days. They both loved camping and camped in almost every state. 

Patty will be buried in the Vickrey family plot in Clifton Cemetery in Clifton, Texas, at a family service.
