Nathan Allen Benfer was born on May 29, 1976 in Clifton, Texas to Russell and Carla Benfer. Nathan went to his heavenly home on December 24, 2025, at the age of 49 years old and he was a resident of Gatesville,Texas.
Nathan was baptized on September 26, 1976 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Clifton, Texas. He affirmed his faith with confirmation in 1990 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap, Texas. Nathan attended Cranfills Gap primary schools and Clifton secondary schools. He enjoyed sports, fishing, Boy Scouts, 4-H, FFA, and country music. Nathan was awarded Eagle Scout on June 30, 1991. He enjoyed showing livestock and calf scrambles. Anyone that knew Nathan personally has witnessed him singing “Fireman” with a lot of heart. He especially enjoyed the love of sports and passed that onto his children and cheered them on in their own sport endeavors. He was a loving and devoted dad to five wonderful boys. Nathan never met a stranger. He would be extremely welcoming and talk an ear off. Nathan’s talkative nature helped him in the sales business for many years, including John McClaren Chevrolet where he added numerous friends and colleagues in his circle. His care team expressed their enjoyment of his comedic and talkative personality and said he was always entertaining. In the past few years Nathan suffered several health complications and struggles, but it would not deter him from spending time with his kids and supporting them.
Nathan is survived by his five sons, Taylor Benfer, Coy Benfer, Kaden Benfer, Braden Benfer, and Jaxson Benfer, his sister, Mindy Webb and husband Tony, and his brother Rusty Benfer, his step-sisters Suzi and Stephanie, his grand children, Avery Lira and Hadleigh Benfer, his aunt, Robin Kanz and husband Ken, his aunt, Sandy Row and husband Craig, his uncle Randy Benfer and wife Kim, and his aunt Tammy Harris. Nathan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Benfer, Carla Stanford, and Carroll Stanford, and his grandparents.
Graveside services will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery at Norse on January 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with Allen Noel officiating.
Pallbearers are Ken Kanz, Ralph Garcia, Brent Moore, Justin Benfer, Gary Sumpter, and Cody Lee.
In lieu of flowers and memorials, the family asks that donations be made to Clifton Funeral Home to cover end-of-life arrangements. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers.
