Kelly Denise Mitchell

Kelly Denise Mitchell, 59, of Clifton, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 5th 2026. Kelly was born on May 15th, 1967, in Clifton, TX, to Perney Allen Chaney and Nancy Elizabeth Pierce Cheney. A compassionate caregiver, Kelly dedicated most of her life to serving others as a nurse aide. She concluded her career at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, where she cared for countless residents with kindness, patience, and love.

On April 6th 2019, Kelly married the love of her life, Terry Mitchell. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and making cherished memories. Kelly was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud Nana, and caring sister. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She treasured shopping trips with her sister, especially visits to Belk and Carter's, and she rarely missed cheering on her favorite teams: the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers. Kelly's warm Heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Perney Alan Chaney and Nancy Elizabeth Pierce Chaney, and her brother, Gordon D. Chaney.

Kelly is survived by her beloved husband, Terry Mitchell; her son, Jeremy Barree and his girlfriend, Carley Anderson; her daughter, Rebecca Mitchell; and her son, Brandon Mitchell. Her cherished grandchildren, Ivy Mitchell Kingston Anderson and Legend Mitchell; her brother, Alan D Chaney; her sister, Marsha Evans, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Allen Evans, Scott Wood, Michael Evans, Robbie Kessler, Richard Chaney, Robert Villines, and Travis Bates.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Clifton Funeral Home, officiated by Jeff Huckeby. Burial will follow at Evans Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Clifton Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations to be made to Sunset Hospice, Pecan Grove Baptist Church of Gatesville, or Evans Cemetery in Kelly's memory.
