Jesusa Del Bosque

November 16, 1932 — January 5, 2026

Jesusa Martinez Del Bosque, 93, of Clifton, went to be with the Lord on January 5, 2026 after living a long and fruitful life. She passed peacefully in the memory care unit at Lutheran Sunset Ministries where she had been well cared for. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, Jan 9, 2026 at the Clifton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening, 5 to 7 pm at the Clifton Funeral Home.

Jesusa was born in Beeville, Tx on November 16, 1932 to Gilberto and Matea Martinez. She married Juan Del Bosque on June 26, 1952 and they spent 53 years together in marriage. They started their family in Mathis, then spent some time in Dublin, and ultimately moved to Clifton in 1972. They raised nine children together - Dora, Betty, Martin, Yolanda, Daniel, Manuel, Emilio, Lupe, and Mellie.

Jesusa loved her family and devoted her life to them. She was a homemaker for her large family and also did additional house cleaning and ironing for others. She was a good cook and always cooked and packed lunches for her husband and kids when they went to work. She was a great tamale maker and many locals bought tamales from her over the years. Jesusa also liked to take road trips to see family around the state of Texas and all the way to California. She also had a passion for sewing – quilts, clothes, and all types of things. She also loved playing cards and bingo and had a group of friends and family that played bingo and cards over the years. Her home was always a welcoming place to anyone that stopped by and you could always find fresh tortillas to sample on the kitchen table.

She spent her last few years in the memory care unit of Lutheran Sunset Ministries. While there, she loved getting visitors and going for the occasional motorcycle ride. She was a homemaker by heart and many times you could catch her cleaning the tables there at the nursing home. She was happy there and it was not uncommon to see her dancing in the hallways with family or the staff there. She also loved taking care of her baby doll just as she took care of all of her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Jesusa was preceded in death by her parents, 6 of her 8 siblings, her husband Juan Del Bosque; her daughter Dora Lopez, her son Martin Del Bosque, her son Emilio Del Bosque, and granddaughter Laundie Aikens. She is survived by her sisters, Ofelia Villarreal and Elodia Sanchez, six children, daughter Betty Chapa and her husband Oscar, daughter Yolanda Fowler, son Daniel Del Bosque and wife Pam, son Manuel Villarreal, son Lupe Del Bosque, daughter Mellie Perales and her husband Romeo, 33 grandkids, 72 great grandkids, and 11 great, great grandkids. Jesusa was loved and cherished by all who knew her and will be dearly missed by all.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Hospice Sunset for their wonderful care given to Jesusa over the past few months and all of the staff at Lutheran Sunset Ministries memory care unit.
