Helen Gilstrap Terrell, 95, of Clifton, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Willow Park Nursing Home in Clifton, Texas. 

Helen was born on May 11, 1930, in Joplin, Missouri, to Fred and Ellen Gilstrap. She lived a long, full, and meaningful life, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Helen had a passion for gardening, was an accomplished seamstress, and was known for her tireless work ethic. She spent many years employed at the local Sormrudes Grocery Store in Clifton, Texas, where she resided and raised her family. 

Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was deeply loved and cherished by all who knew her. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ellen Gilstrap; her loving husband, Billy Terrell; two brothers; five sisters; a son-in-law; and Lester Little, the father of her children. 

Helen is survived by her five devoted children: Larry Little and wife Sharon, Sharon Taylor and husband Ron, Diana Buchalski and her late husband Ken, Patricia Matthies and husband Fritz, and Betty Healey and husband Jim; brothers, Ronnie Gilstrap and Robert Gilstrap. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy throughout her life. 

A memorial service honoring Helen’s life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Clifton Funeral Home, with a graveside burial to follow at Terrell Cemetery. 

Helen’s favorite scripture was Proverbs 3:5 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” This verse reflected the deep faith that guided her throughout her life. 

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Willow Park Nursing Home and Interim Hospice who exhibited compassionate care and the peace they provided to Helen in her final days. 

Helen’s life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a legacy that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
