Harold W. Leigh

Aug 3, 1938 — Aug 27, 2026

Clifton, TX

Harold W. Leigh passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 27, 2026. He was born on August 3, 1938, in Temple, Texas, and grew up in Pendleton, Texas.

Harold graduated from Troy High School in 1956 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Texas in 1962. He built his career as a mechanical engineer, bringing both skill and dedication to his work. He also served in the United States Army.

In 1959, Harold married Doris Nell Downing in Troy, Texas, beginning a marriage that remained central to his life. Over the years, they made their home in several communities, living in Austin from 1959 to 1962, Las Cruces, New Mexico, from 1963 to 1965, Corpus Christi from 1965 to 1966, Abilene from 1966 to 1967, Wichita Falls from 1967 to 1972, DeSoto from 1972 to 1998, and Clifton from 1998 to 2026.

Harold will be remembered as a strong Christian man, a faithful and loving family man, and someone with a good sense of humor. He was known for helping those in need and for his entrepreneurial spirit. His life reflected both devotion to his family and a commitment to serving the communities where he lived. He was a Mason and a Shriner, served as a Deacon of First Baptist Church in Clifton, was involved with the water board in Bosque County, and served on the DeSoto school board.

He found enjoyment in hunting, fishing, and spending time socializing with his coffee buddies. Those simple pleasures, together with his steady faith and warm nature, were an important part of the life he shared with others.

Harold is survived by his wife, Doris Nell Leigh. He also leaves behind his children, Richard Leigh and his wife, Allison, Larissa Rawls and her husband, Brian, and Paul Leigh. His family circle continues through his grandchildren, Audrey, Hank, Ashleigh and husband Neal, Taylor, Megan, and Dillon, and his great-grandchildren, Wilder and Graceyn. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will remain a lasting blessing to his family and friends.
