Fran Amundson, a beloved figure in her community, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Goodall-Witcher Hospital in Clifton, Texas. Born on September 22, 1940, in Statesville, Tennessee, Fran moved to Texas in 1956, where she completed her education at Adamson High School in Dallas.
In June of 1973, Fran embarked on a new journey by enrolling in Truman's Beauty School in Waco, Texas. She received her license in April of 1974 and spent nine fulfilling years working at Fenn's Beauty Salon. Later, Fran followed her dreams and opened her own salon, which she owned and operated for 24 years until her retirement in 2010. Throughout her career, she cherished the relationships she built with her clients and took great pride in her work.
Fran's life was marked by her love for her family and her dedication to her community. She met Glen Amundson, the love of her life, and their union began on May 3, 1957. They were blessed with one son, Richard Dale Amundson, who preceded her in death. Fran and Glen's shared journey included working at Daughty Pharmacy for twelve years and moving back to Clifton in 1969, where they continued to cultivate their lives together.
A proud member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church at Norse, Fran joined on August 11, 1974, and spent her years being actively involved in various roles within the church. She served as the memorial and benevolence treasurer on the church council, chaired the Smorgasbord, and contributed to the decorating committee, all reflecting her commitment to her faith and community service.
Those who knew Fran will remember her vibrant personality and her love of being surrounded by people. She took joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as tending to her beautiful yard and home, where she delighted in cooking for her nieces and nephews. Fran had a special bond with her cherished dog, Barney, and formed many meaningful connections with friends and neighbors, all of whom she loved dearly.
Fran has joined the ranks of her loved ones who have passed before her, including her parents, Daniel and Annie Fisher, her husband, Glen, and son, Richard, as well as her brothers—John Lofton Fisher, Howard Nelson Fisher, William Hubert Fisher, Daniel Lyle Fisher, Jr., Robert Foster Fisher—and sisters—Robbie Fisher Parker, Millie Fisher Rickets, Ada Mildred Fisher Martin, Dollie Fisher Paris, Jessie Iona Fisher Malone, and Janice Alma Fisher Vanatte.
She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and devotion, forever treasured by her many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. A visitation will take place at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Clifton on September 20, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Fran will be laid to rest at Norse Cemetery following the service.
