David R. Thomas passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and community spirit. Born on October 10, 1943, in Pampa, Texas, David’s life journey began in the heart of the Texas Panhandle. He attended schools in his hometown of Pampa and furthered his education at West Texas State University, where he joined the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. These formative years laid the foundation for a life filled with meaningful connections and steadfast values.
David devoted his career to the field of commercial construction, where his attention to detail and dedication made a lasting impact. His work was more than a profession; it was an opportunity to shape communities, build relationships, and take pride in tangible accomplishments. Those who knew and worked alongside David respected him for his dependable character and the craftsmanship he brought to every project.
He was known for his wide range of interests and for the joy he found in collecting antique tractors and farm implements. Ranching was another deep passion, exemplifying his lifelong connection to the land and rural heritage. David also found creative fulfillment as an amateur artist, channeling his appreciation for beauty into his artwork. His diverse pursuits reflected a curious mind and a keen appreciation for history and craftsmanship.
David’s warmth and generosity extended far beyond his professional and personal endeavors. He truly loved entertaining people, and he was cherished by family, friends, and neighbors alike. David’s faith and patriotism were cornerstones of his character. He found strength and companionship in his membership with the Rotary Club and as an active participant at the Bosque County Cowboy Church. His devotion to God and love of country guided his actions and inspired those around him.
David’s life was shaped by deep and lasting relationships. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty Thomas; his father, Raymond Thomas; his mother, Grace Thomas; and his brother, Bob Thomas. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his days. David’s absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Davina Fullerton and her husband, David of Seabrook, Texas; granddaughter, Breanna Chaviers and husband, Cameron; granddaughter, Shelby Freeman; granddaughter, Shaylee Freeman and fiancé David Flewellyn; son-in-law, Loren Freeman and wife, Sherrie Freeman; brother, John Thomas and wife, Darlene Thomas-Clifton, Texas; sister- Londa Gilbreath- Forney, Texas; nephews, Steve Gilbreath, Mike Gilbreath, and Jason Thomas; nieces, Tamara Jaramillo, Christine Hayes.
A visitation will be held at the Bosque County Cowboy Church, located at 7023 State Hwy. 6, Clifton, TX 76634, on July 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at the same location at 2:00 p.m. David will be laid to rest at Clifton Cemetery, 1000 South Avenue G, Clifton, TX 76634.
Pallbearers will be Jason Thomas, Paul Jaramillo, Steve Gilbreath, David Fullerton, and David Flewellyn.
