Carolyn Sue Billington

Oct 2, 1946 — Jul 9, 2026

Clifton

Carolyn Billington, 79, passed away surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of unconditional love, unwavering support, and countless cherished memories.

Carolyn was born on October 2, 1946, in Morganfield, Kentucky, to Katherine Wright. She was lovingly raised by her parents, Katherine and Edward Quirk, who instilled in her the values of kindness, family, and hard work. She was the oldest of four children and shared a lifelong bond with her sisters, Debbie and Pamela, and her brother, Edward “Butch” Quirk Jr.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Billington, the love of her life, who passed away in 2014; her parents, Katherine and Edward Quirk; and her brother, Butch.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelley and her husband, David, and her son, Tray and his wife, Heather, who were the pride and joy of her life. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Chris and his wife, Micki, and Cari and her husband, Trey; her cherished great-grandchildren, Kavery, Emery, Laken, Kase, Keeton, Brock, and Weston; her sisters; nieces and nephews; extended family; and countless friends whose lives were forever touched by her love.

For more than 20 years, Carolyn worked for Clifton ISD, not because it was simply a job, but because it allowed her to be close to the grandchildren she adored. Family was always her greatest priority, and she never missed an opportunity to support the people she loved.

If there was a ballgame, Carolyn was there—camera in hand and the loudest cheerleader in the stands. She found pure joy in watching her grandchildren play sports, capturing every smile, every victory, and every unforgettable moment through the lens of her camera. Those photographs became treasured keepsakes, preserving memories for generations to come.

Carolyn had a remarkable gift for making every child feel special. She wasn’t just “Nannie” to her own grandchildren; she was “Nannie” to every child she met. Whether it was offering words of encouragement, celebrating accomplishments, or simply making someone feel seen and loved, she had a way of making everyone feel like family.

She also cherished traveling with her sisters and cousins, creating memories filled with laughter, adventure, and an unbreakable bond. Her nieces and nephews held a special place in her heart, and she loved each of them deeply, always taking pride in their lives and accomplishments.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. Carolyn loved her church and her church family, finding joy in fellowship and serving alongside those she loved. Her church was more than a place she attended—it was a community that became an extension of her family. She treasured the friendships she built there and found strength, comfort, and purpose through her faith.

Above all else, Carolyn’s life was defined by love. She made ordinary days feel extraordinary, celebrated every milestone, and made sure the people she loved always knew exactly how much they meant to her. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in every story shared, every photograph treasured, and every life she touched.

Though her family grieves the loss of an incredible mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, they find comfort knowing that Carolyn is reunited with the love of her life. Her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those blessed enough to know her.
