Betty Clarice Nelson passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, with her family by her side. She was born on January 20, 1939. Clarice will be remembered as a strong Christian woman whose life was marked by hard work, devotion to her family, faithful service to her church, and a warm, spirited personality. She was beautiful inside and out, always liked to look nice, and was known as a good friend to others. Those who knew her also cherished her resilient nature, her wholehearted love, and the touch of sass and funny rebelliousness that made her so memorable.
Clarice attended school at Grandview and graduated from Alvarado High School. She went on to build a long and steady career in banking, retiring after 30 years in the business. Her working life also brought valued friendships, and she enjoyed good times with co-workers from the bank in Clifton and Aars & Nelson Insurance Agency.
On January 21, 1989, Clarice married Kenneth Gene Nelson in Salado, Texas, where they eloped. Together, Clarice and Kenneth shared many happy memories, including trips to Horseshoe Bay, Branson, Missouri, and other travels they enjoyed along the way. They also loved attending Baylor Lady Bear Basketball games, creating moments that remained dear to their family.
Clarice found joy in the everyday blessings of life. She enjoyed playing “42” with her family, sharing lunch dates with church friends, and spending time with the people she loved. Her faith was an important part of who she was, and she served the church faithfully until her battle with Alzheimer's progressed. In all she did, she loved deeply and gave generously of herself.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Gene Nelson; her father, Winston Woodrow Pipes; and her mother, Bettie Gertrue Sain Pipes.
Clarice’s legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly. She is survived by her son, Ronnie Bosher, and his wife, Lee Ann; her daughters, Teresa Bosher and Lisa Outlaw, and Lisa’s husband, Claude. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kenny Bosher; Lawren Fisher and her husband, Kevin; Casey Brooks and her husband, Robert; Betsy Outlaw; Rebecca Brown and her husband, James; and Andrew Outlaw. Her great-grandchildren, Ethan Fisher, Evan Fisher, Stella Swanson, and Maddison Brown, were also among the treasured members of her family.
She is further survived by her brother, Howard Gene Pipes, and his wife, Carol; her nieces, Kristy Pipes and Kathy McKinney and her husband, Allen; her great-nephew, Ryan McKinney; and her great-nieces, Malarē Vincent and her husband, Brandon, and Emmalyn Petry and her husband, Tim.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Clifton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 4, 2026 at Clifton Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park.
