Nelda Ramsey

Nelda June (McKinney) Boone Ramsey, affectionately known by her grandchildren and many others as “Mokey”, entered into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior on July 7, 2021. Born to Earl and Effie McKinney in Turnersville, Texas, on February 26, 1933, she was 88 years old, and she lived life to the fullest for every moment of those 88 years. She loved and was loved by many, and she faithfully extended grace to others in all circumstances.

Nelda married Sidney Darrell Boone Jr. in February 1950, in Valley Mills, Texas. They were blessed with two children, Dara Nell (born 1953) and Daniel Wayne (born 1955). After Darrell died from leukemia in January 1975, Nelda married Thomas Isaac Ramsey in November 1975. Nelda and Tom ultimately settled in Clifton, Texas, in 1994, where Tom died in 2008.

Nelda was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Effie McKinney, husbands Sidney Darrell Boone Jr and Thomas Isaac Ramsey, her two older brothers Carroll and Dorman McKinney, her son Dan Boone, her granddaughter Diana Kroeker, and her infant grandson Gene Boone.

She is survived by her brother Bill (Rita) McKinney of Rosenberg, Texas, her daughter Dara (Greg) Beard of Clifton, stepdaughters Carol (Michael) Rosticil of Dewey, Arizona, and Cynthia Damm of Bridgewater, New Hampshire, daughter-in-law Janet Boone of Tyler, Texas, grandchildren Brian Boone of Dallas, Texas, Janda (Rick) Gragg of Tyler, Aaron (Nicole) Beard of Lubbock, Texas, Jerry (Misty) Boone of Tyler, Josh Beard of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kristi (John) Bassinder of Tyler, Clint Boone of Tyler, and Jacob (Amanda) Beard of Lawton, Oklahoma, great-grandchildren Ethan and Carley Kroeker; Andrew, Daniel, and Emily Gragg; Caleb (Trista), Payton, Makayla, Jaeleigh, and Jaxon Beard; Arianna and Xavier Salas; Austin and Harley Boone; Kenadi Carmichael, Makinley, and Julia Bassinder; Sidney Boone; and Darrell and Tera Beard, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her life will be celebrated during a funeral service at 2:30 pm on Sunday, July 11th, at First Presbyterian Church in Clifton, officiated by Pastor Clint Schofield. The service will be preceded by a visitation at 1:30 pm at the church. Funeral arrangements are being coordinated by Clifton Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Valley Mills, Texas cemetery.
