Larry Anderson Obituary

Larry Wayne Anderson, known to many as “Shorty”, 76, of Clifton, Texas went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.  Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 4, 2021 at the Rock Church cemetery in Cranfills Gap. Visitation will be held at Clifton Funeral home on Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M.

Larry was born on October 16, 1944, in Gorman, Texas.  He was the son of James Buck and Ruby Hope Anderson.  He spent his childhood years and graduated from Gorman High School in 1963.  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State in 1968.  Larry was then drafted to the service.  His military career is “classified” and his role is yet to be determined, some say cook and others are convinced he was a “trained killer”, maybe even “pyro expert” (all said with a bit of Papa’s humor).  He went on to receive his Master of Science Teaching degree from Tarleton State University in 1976.  Larry was an AG teacher in Cranfills Gap and left a lasting impression on many students, still to this day.  He then spent 22-years as a loan officer with PCA in Bosque and Coryell Counties.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Clifton, past president of Clifton Riding Club and was active in the Central Texas Fair Association for a number of years.

His most cherished moments were with his family and friends.  He enjoyed team roping, tending to cattle, fishing and Papa shared his love for all his hobbies with his wife, kids, grandkids and great grand kids.  Shorty was full of life, laughter and loved to tell stories and jokes, sometimes the same ones over and over.

He married the love of his life, Tracine, on March 9, 1991.  The two of them enjoyed attending the annual roping Fiesta in San Angelo, Texas and at times, simply driving over to have dinner at The Western Sky Restaurant.  They also enjoyed going to Jake and Dorothy’s Restaurant in Stephenville for the chicken fried steaks, waffle fries and peanut butter pie.  Tra made sure that Larry was very well taken care of, to some a bit spoiled!

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, James Buck and Ruby Hope Anderson and sister, Neoma Nash.

He is survived by his wife, Tracine; sons, Anthony Anderson and wife Lori, Brian Anderson and fiancé Kori, Kyle Simmons and daughter, Krista Simmons.  Grandchildren, Tyler Anderson, Toby Anderson, Bailey Anderson and Travis Collier, Canyon Anderson, Trace Anderson and Henlee Anderson.  Great grandchildren, Reyna Anderson, Mickey Collier and Cora Collier.  He is also survived by his nephew, Scott Marble and brother, Jerry Anderson and wife Janie.  Also, his Dog, Trip, which he loved!

Larry’s words of wisdom “I only speaketh the truth”
