Emma (Schraeder) McDougal

Emma Minnie (Schraeder) McDougal, 94, of Clifton passed away on Monday, September 11, 2023. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, September 15, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, Clifton with Pastor Don Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Clifton Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. 

Emma was born to August and Bertha (Gaskamp) Schraeder on May 23, 1923, in Oglesby, Texas, Coryell County.  She was baptized into the family of God on September 15, 1929, in St. John Lutheran Church in Coryell City.  She was confirmed there on Palm Sunday, April 18, 1943.

Emma had four brothers and three sisters:  Willie (Bill), Albert, Eddie, Bennie, Marie, Lena, and Sophie.

She moved to Clifton in 1950 to work at Charlie’s Café and married Homer McDougal in 1951.  Emma then worked at the Corner Drug Store and later the local school cafeteria where she retired after twenty years.

Joining the Methodist Church in 1951, Emma taught Sunday school and was a member of the Methodist Women’s Mission Society.  She was a volunteer with the Cancer Society and the Central Texas Fair.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her husband, Homer. 

She is survived by her son, Jerry McDougal, and wife Sharon; granddaughter Carla Rhodes and husband Andy; and great-grandchildren, Presli, Jersi, Kaelyn, and Mayburn; and many nieces and nephews.
