Ovidio Garza

Ovidio Garza, 76, of Clifton passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones at Clifton Nursing and Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Clifton Funeral Home with Father Xavier Sivadasan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Clifton Memorial Park.

Ovidio was born on August 6, 1943 in Sabinas Hidalgo Nuevo Leon to Agustin and Maria (Hernandez) Garza. In March of 1965, he married Nicolasa Garcia in Sabinas. From 1980-1988, he and his son-in-law worked for Bad River Company Ranch in South Dakota. During the winter months, they would travel to Texas and work in Rock Springs for Louis Wardlow. In 1988, he worked for Hill enterprises until his retirement in 2014. Everyone loved his homemade tortillas and chicken and rice, especially his boss, Jerry Hill. He enjoyed cooking, hanging out with family and drinking Keystone. His best friend was his dog, Goofy. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Augustina Garza; brothers, Arturo Garza, Javier Garza, Rodolfo Garza; and grandson, Jesus Vicente Garza. 

He is survived by his wife, Nicolasa Garza; Children, Sonia Patricia (Domingo) Santos of Clifton, Ovidio (Diana) Garza of Clifton, Mariela (Heriberto) Gamez of Houston, Hector (Margarita) Garza of Leander; Brothers, Roberto Garza, Homero Garza, and Jaime Garza; sisters, Amparo Garza and Olga Garza; grandchildren, Gonzalo (Margarita) Santos of Belton, Erik (Star) Santos of Clifton, Ovidio (Jr.) Garza of Waco, Sonia Santos of Clifton, Heriberto Gamez, Jr. of Houston, Nikkita Gamez of Houston, Julissa Garza of Leander, Jesus Gamez of Houston, and Hector Garza of Leander; great-grandchildren, Batista Corona, Nathan Santos, Kayden Garza, Harper Santos, Matthew Santos, and Aria Santos.
